As my first field placement wrapped up, it was hard to not say I became slightly attached to my students. No I didn't know all of their names, or their hobbies, or even their grades in the class, but I did come to like and appreciate their quirks and their respect for me from the get-go. I know how awkward it can feel when a complete stranger comes into the room, especially for an extended period of time so it was greatly appreciated that my students were eager and excited to have two of us joining them.
The school and teacher I was with seemed to be an amazing place to work, not only because of the resources available to teachers, but also the community and administration support. In a place that provides so much for their educators, it makes it easier to want to show up and teach students that are, for the most part, glad to be there and enjoy having a good teacher as well.
I have come to realize that this whole education business is even more than a two-way street, as I have heard many people call it. It is like a major interstate exchange with multiple underpasses and overpasses that all seem to intersect and appear as if they might collide, just to slip by each other and keep everything running smoothly. There are so many variables in play when it comes to education and I simply cannot wait to get back to the students that I have come to appreciate on so many levels.
(Video simply because I love the band and this song and the name is relevant to my title!)
